Dare I say it? This might just be my favourite pink ever. It’s what I imagine Barbie would wear 24/7, including the pearls. Boom Boom Room is pretty much the most perfect shade of pink; creamy and bright, without being insanely flashy. It’s like a baby pink on steroids, and I LOVE it. The formula was a little bit thick and hard to manage, but I honestly didn’t care because it looks so good, and with a nice coat of Essie’s Good to Go (my fav top coat ever) everything evened out nice and smooth, including the bubbles from my one coat of white underneath, which was not Essie. For the pink, I applied three coats. It’s safe to say I think I’d be making Barbie proud with this one, and although my doll playing days are over, there’s still a little Barbie in me somewhere, just now successfully channeled onto my fingertips.

Let me just start by saying I have a new found respect for people who make these awesome pictorials online… this one took me FOREVER and I don’t even know if it’s effective, or cute, for that matter. Anyway, I tried to make a super simple tutorial for these opal nails. I posted the bottom photo a few weeks ago to my Instagram and people seemed to really like it, so I figured I’d make a bigger, nicer one for the web. The main points are really all right there; you start with a white base then you literally blob the polish onto your nail, randomly and overlapping the colours. Then, using a square (pre!) cut from a sandwich baggie, you lightly place it on the nail then literally just tap down on it, sort of swirling the colours together, moving the plastic a bit. Sally Hansen White Out, Essie Where’s My Chauffeur?, and O.P.I Ski Teal We Drop.

Start with a white base. Add small lines in a light blue colour of your choice (my colour choices are a few photos above). Then, go over that with a darker teal blue colour. Wait a few seconds (literally) and apply top coat while polish is still wet so that it smears a little, dragging the colour up to give that blended, tie-dye effect.

I always find myself on this blog for nail inspiration; Miss Lady Finger, AKA Taryn Multak, just does everything so, so well + I ‘m obsessed with the fact that all her nail art is all fashion related… what more could I ask for? When I saw her Beyonce x H&M tie-dye bathing suit pattern look (I tried on the bathing suit BTW, it came absolutely nowhere close to looking as amaze as it does on B, sigh), it had to be on my nails stat. Comparing the two, I kinda did my lines a little too thick, but I still really like the overall look. So pretty, tie-dye-ish, and reminds me of the ocean. And best of all, it’s so, so easy to do, I even took a stab at my own little tutorial for it, but feel free to check out the original version, too. If you don’t already, I seriously suggest you follow Miss Lady Finger pretty much everywhere; you won’t regret it, I promise.

I saw this perfect manicure a couple of days ago and knew immediately that I had to re-create it. My version is about a galaxy away from the original; those gems they use are literally the prettiest (if you’re reading ES Nails, please divulge where they’re from) and really pull everything together. I tried to imitate the delicate dotted design and it didn’t come out too shabby, if I may say so myself. My colour combo could have been a little more sophisticated, (when I put on Mint Candy Apple, I wasn’t planning on doing this design) so I’m pretty sure my nails look like I’m a couple of months late for Easter, but they’re still pretty cute, right? What do you guys think?

I’ve realized the few shades I’m missing in my collection are yellows (I don’t own a single one) and peach coloured polish; that is until I got Peach of Cake over the weekend (thanks, mom ♡). P.S. who else wants to be the person that names nail polish? Um, I so do (O.P.I., call me) I had some high expectations for this polish and it sorta, kinda, maybe met them. I mean, for the same price as an O.P.I or Essie, I expected it to apply much better than it did. I had to use three coats to get it even, which means extra dry time that I’m never down for. The colour is super pretty, though; it’s the perfect shade of peach. And I love the brushes that come with this line; one swipe covers practically my whole nail. So I guess the good outweighs the bad for this one. I added some teardrop studs to my middle, ring finger, and thumb (yes, eBay) and I think they look awesome. And then I got glitter happy, again. Since I loved the outcome of my nails a few posts back I just had to add some silver sparkles this time, and I was right; they came out just as good as I had imagined.

I could never get this manicure, that I saw on Instagram months and months ago, out of my head. It’s literally the cutest thing ever and has me seeing all things Marc Jacobs; the daises are perfectly reminiscent of the ones atop his famed perfume bottles. I’ve been meaning to re-create it for a long, long time, but I never had those little caviar beads, until now. I got them in the mail yesterday (as part of my eBay impulse shopping buy) and it was the only obvious manicure to do last night since I’ve been waiting so long. As expected, I love it! The colour combo is so chic (I tried using the pink, green, and purple from the Daisy Sunshine bottle over a peach base; it was not happening) and I opted for five, more daisy-like petals, over the four from the original design I saw. Needless to say, I don’t ever want to take these off.

Essie Bikini So Teeny and some loose light gold glitter

I’ve been coveting Bikini So Teeny since seeing it on my Instagram feed over and over again in the past couple of months. It’s literally the perfect shade of blue (with a super subtle shimmer), so when I saw it at the pharmacy a few weeks ago, I grabbed it in record speed. It’s quickly become one of my all time favourites and the colour I’d be more than happy to wear on repeat. The formula is fine; this was two coats. The glitter is the result of an impulse Ebay buy; I saw the 24-pack of loose sparkles + the ridiculously low price and before you know it I was entering in my PayPal information; I just couldn’t help myself. It’s far from the best quality, but that definitely makes it perfect for packing it on the nail. In real life, this colour is much more rose gold, which looks so, so good next to this Essie blue. With this mani combo and my 23 shades of glitter left to experiment with, I know what I’ll be reaching for next time I want something simple and stunning.

The weather yesterday was finally so deliciously warm that I’m already in summer mode, even though spring has hardly visited Montreal as of yet. Naturally, I had to channel yesterday’s much welcomed mini-heat-wave onto my nails. The formula of this polish is pretty good; it’s a little streaky with the first coat (done over a white base) but it evens out perfectly with the second and looks super squishy and jelly-like once top coat is applied, otherwise it dries matte. I seriously want to wear Ali all summer; highlighters aint’ got nothing on this colour. It’s so, so, so bright my eyes hurt just looking at the photos for too long on my computer screen, which is why I love it. Just imagine how drop dead gorgeous this would look on tanned skin! I can’t take it. My other polishes are really going to have to fight for nail space; I’ll pretty much have to stop myself from grabbing this shade every time I do my nails in the next couple of months, because nothing screams summer heat quite like some killer neon claws.

I’m a fan of anything glittery and girly, so it’s no wonder these two shades are a match made in heaven. I did a really easy jelly sandwich (a layer of glitter sandwiched between a few coats of sheer polish) and this was the swoon-worthy result. The glitter just peeks through in the most subtle and pretty way (when it hits the light you can still see hints of the metallic pink) and this is definitely the least in-your-face way to wear some sparkle. Needless to say, I’m pretty much obsessed.

LOOK AT THAT GLITTER. I think I died and went to holo heaven and/or have entered Oz and Dorothy’s slippers have re-incarnated themselves onto my fingertips. Either way I love it and I love you, Zoya. I realize I’m probably completely delayed and 99.9% of you reading this have already experienced or seen the beauty that is this colour. But whatever, I’m fashionably late with it. The photos are terribly horrible because this colour is just terribly horrible to capture but it’s so beautiful that I set any idea of not posting this aside, because c’mon. I actually like the shade picture much better and it’s much more of what it looks like in real life when you’re not standing in the sun, which makes me want to compare this polish to Twilight; normal looking in the shade and then bam! it gets all glittery and sparkly in the sunshine. This colour has skyrocketed to the top of my favourites list, with Zoya right along side it. They’ve been doing real good lately. Tell me, how obsessed are you with this colour? The answer should be a lot.
